Drugo leto torej 2009 bo simpozij Bobcatsss potekal na Portugalskem, točneje v Portu.
Število mest bo omejeno.(10 do 15 odvisno od financiranja, zaenkrat kaže na 10) Prednost bodo najprej imeli študentje, ki bodo imeli na simpoziju predstavitev, bodisi plakat bodisi referat. Zatorej vse ki ste zainteresirani za udeležbo, že sedaj spodbujam k temu, da na simpoziju aktivno sodelujete.
Več informacij vam bom podal na srečanju Bobkats po Bobkatsu (datum še pride).

Good afternoon!
We remember you that the 17th BOBCATSSS symposium will take place in Porto, Portugal between 28-30 January 2009.
We also get this moment to announce that EUCLID will attribute the best research paper award written by student and supervised by a mentor. Price will consist of a award certificate and BOBCATSSS 2010 conference fee for both authors.
Contributions are welcome in the form of workshops, paper or poster presentations. The main theme is "Challenges for the New Information Professional" and the seven sub themes are listed below in the call for papers announcement, in attach. The symposium targets students, and we are especially inviting papers and workshop contributions by students or teams of students and teachers.
The time to submit abstracts extends to the 15th of July 2008 and should not extend the 1200 words.
The abstracts will be reviewed shortly after the deadline, and we will contact the applicants by the end of August.
We kindly ask you to use our specific template for the abstract. Detailed instructions are provided within the template. Submissions must be entered through the OpenConf system which can be reached via our website www.bobcatsss2009.org. Further information on the symposium is also provided on the site.
We would like to call your attention for the papers lengh. The final version should not extend the 15 pages.

CALL FOR PAPERS
From 1st of March until 15th of July 2008
CHALLENGES FOR THE NEW INFORMATION PROFESSIONAL
The field of information science is in ongoing change. New technology and innovations, such
as electronic material in libraries and archives, causes changes in job descriptions and
challenges the old ways of thinking and working. Changes in material, the growth in the use
of web environment and increasing the pace at work makes information professional to
think about the identity of the profession and oneself. Amount of information has been
rising exponentially.
BOBCATSSS 2009 symposium explores these questions: How to help the users identify good
information from all the spam? How to keep the databases running and all the data
available to the users at all situations? And what about the physical material? Is there any
use for books and paper documents anymore? Information science has many interests with
other disciplines like communications theory and mass media, data processing. What kind of
collaboration information scientists have with scholars from other fields and how to
improve it? What is Librarian 2.0?
